How acoustic glass partitions work
Noise passes through thin glass and gaps around doors. Acoustic partitions use double glazing (two glass panes with an air gap) or laminated acoustic glass, plus rubber seals and drop-down seals under the door. Together they reduce speech noise much more than a single glass panel.
What affects sound reduction
- Glass build-up: single, laminated or double-glazed
- Door seals and a drop-down bottom seal
- Sealing at the ceiling – sound often travels over the partition through the false ceiling
- Junctions with walls and window mullions
For conference rooms in Business Bay, DIFC and JLT we often combine double-glazed glass with frosted bands for privacy. See also office glass partitions.

Frequently asked questions
Is any glass partition 100% soundproof?
No partition is completely soundproof, but double-glazed or laminated acoustic glass with good seals reduces normal speech a lot, so conversations are not understood outside the room.
Is acoustic glass more expensive?
Yes, double glazing and acoustic seals cost more than single glass. We can suggest the best option for your budget after a site visit.
